This year marks a very special milestone for our industry and the Thomson Reuters Compliance Awards. It has been 10 years since we launched these eminent awards - and what a profound difference a decade can make!
When we first celebrated compliance achievements with our community back in 2004, it was the year that MiFiD was adopted, the year that the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision released new capital standards, commonly known as Basel II and also the year that the FSA issued its largest fine to date of £17M. It would be another three years before the fateful sinking of Lehman Brothers and the beginning of the ominous Global Financial Crisis that shook the financial world to its core, and 6 years before Dodd-Frank was signed. How times have changed!
In growth or crisis, the one constant over these 10 years has been the remarkable dedication, expertise and spirit of the compliance community.
It has been our great honour to host these Awards to applaud the outstanding individuals, teams and support players, who all work tirelessly to safeguard the integrity of their businesses and to position them for continued growth and success.
Over the last decade, the Awards have become the MUST-ATTEND event in the compliance calendar because of a number of factors; chief among which is a great sense of community. It is this sense of community which has always made coming together annually to appreciate and celebrate our peers such an enjoyable experience.
Award nominations are now open and we encourage you to put forward those industry professionals and firms that have demonstrated best-practice, leadership and commitment to the industry and profession. We’d like to again congratulate and remind you of the amazing professionals who won last year, the list of whom can be found here.
We look forward to seeing you and your colleagues at what promises to be an extra special celebration of achievements in the compliance community.
Best wishes, Thomson Reuters Events Team
